Canobeam DT-50 awarded Miercom "NetWORKS As Advertised" seal of approval
Confirms Effectiveness of Free Space Optics Solution From Canon
ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, NJ - August 2, 2001 - Canon Broadcast & Communications today announced that the Canobeam DT-50 has been awarded the "NetWORKS As Advertised" seal of approval from Miercom, the independent networking consultancy and product test center located in Princeton Junction, NJ. The recognition was awarded to the Canobeam optical beam transceiver system following extensive testing at the Miercom lab facility.
The award confirms the Canobeam's status as a highly effective free space optics (FSO) solution for the secure, high-speed transmission of data. Miercom performed a rigorous series of tests evaluating Canobeam's qualities of installation/configuration, ease of use, functionality, performance, and ability to meet industry expectations. Canobeam is one of only two FSO products to win Miercom's "NetWORKS As Advertised" award.
Tests demonstrated Canobeam's ability to securely transmit data at speeds of 622 Mbps (ATM/OC-12), while connecting across a straight-line distance of 1 km. (The Canobeam is capable of transmitting 2 km at OC-3). In addition, the Canobeam's fast building-top setup, breakdown and relocation were acknowledged, providing reliable links by a unique Auto-Tracking System. Canobeam accommodates Fast Ethernet, FDDI, ATM, SONET, SDH and no FCC frequency allocation is ever required.
