Frame Relay Forum to sponsor first-ever Multilink Frame Relay Interoperability Event
Five Day Event to Showcase FRF.16 Multilink Frame Relay Capabilities
FREMONT, CA - July 23, 2001 - The Frame Relay Forum (FRF) announced today that it will sponsor the first Multilink Frame Relay Interoperability event July 23 - 26, 2001 at Miercom, an independent networking consultancy and product-test center in Princeton Junction, New Jersey. Seven vendors will participate in the five-day event, each having an opportunity to work together in pairs, executing a suite of 12 tests that will confirm interoperability between their equipment based on the FRF.16 Multilink Frame Relay specification.
"FRF's primary goal in creating the Multilink Frame Relay Interoperability event is to provide real value to the customers who will be deploying these solutions," said Mike Walsh, president of the Frame Relay Forum. "To that end, we have leveraged support from a number of our service provider members who are helping to ensure that the results will be meaningful in the qualification of this new service. As we approach the 10th anniversary of the founding of the FRF, it's gratifying to know that our Forum continues to play a leadership role as the market for Frame Relay technology grows and evolves."
"The Multilink Frame Relay Interoperability event will provide the participating vendors, the Frame Relay Forum and the industry at large with an opportunity to expand the interconnectivity of existing, vital networks," said Rob Smithers, president of Miercom. "Miercom is pleased to provide the venue and support for an event that will further the development of Multilink Frame Relay."
About Multilink Frame Relay
The continued success of Frame Relay technology as a proven, low latency, and secure access service has driven customer demand for more flexibility in implementations. In response, the FRF created Multilink Frame Relay, an accepted standard for inverse multiplexing over standard T1 or E1 circuits from the customer's location to the FR service provider point of presence (POP). The Multilink Frame Relay implementation agreements were created by the FRF in response to end users requests for a standards-based solution to bridge the bandwidth gap that exists between T1/E1 and T3/E3. Multilink frame relay is based upon The Frame Relay Forum's FRF.16 standard, which can be viewed at the FRF website at: http://www.frforum.com/5000/5000index.html.
